Design and implement IT systems that support an enterprise infrastructure. Working with business leaders, solution delivery, and infrastructure management teams to determine the outcomes that a technical project or system should deliver, then design, build and deploy as part of a larger project. In addition, the infrastructure architect should identify the business requirements and incorporate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions.
Technical ability being only one aspect of the internal infrastructure architect role. Creative thinking, project management and research also play a key part in the sourcing and design of new solutions which are fit for business purpose.
Not just tasked with creating new core infrastructure elements, the job/role includes assessing current systems for security and suitability and researching potential upgrades.
Daily tasks may include:
Assessing existing systems to ensure they meet business requirements
Monitoring the security of existing business systems
Predicting and overseeing infrastructure or software upgrades based on business needs
Technical direction of new system implementations
Creating detailed project plans for new system designs and rollouts
Reporting on project deployments
Job Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
The successful candidate should be experienced in the following:
Network Engineering
Computer science
Software development and scripting (not mandatory but would be a plus)
Project Management
IT Service Management
Other beneficial technical skills would include experience with:
Develop Network and Telecommunications solutions
Proficient in network security, network infrastructure, and TCP/IP
Profound knowledge of network architecture and virtualization technologies
Proficient in Open Systems and Compute/Storage infrastructure
Cloud methodologies
Solid understanding in Project Lifecycle, Statement of Work, and Structural design principles
Planning and designing support processes and adhere to best practices

Certifications include any of the following:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

Project Management Professional (PMP)
Prince2 Foundation for Project Management
ITIL Foundation
